Introduction: Late onset bipolar disorder is not common. In addition, bipolar disorder with a dominancy over sexual behaviors is very rare. Hence, traumatic and vigorous sexual behavior, such as masturbation and self-mutilation, are odd and rare occurrences. Case Presentation: An elderly woman in a manic phase of bipolar disorder without a previous history of psychiatric disorders was concomitant with problematic sexual over stimulation in the context of hyper sexuality. She had traumatized her genitals and underwent surgery for their repair. Following her admission and psychopharmacologic therapy, she recovered. Conclusions: The presentation of bipolar disorder in the elderly can be seen in sexual behaviors and self-mutilation that can lead to the need for reparative surgery. In each case with trauma to the external genitalia, psychiatric problems should be considered

Environmental impacts assessment of construction and utilization phases of tourism projects in Karun Dam IV, Iran

There is a strong mutuality between tourism and environment via the creation of feedback mechanisms, since tourism often places adverse effects upon the quality and quantity of natural and cultural resources of the destination, leading to its qualitative and quantitative degradation. Within the Environmental Impacts Assessment (EIA) studies, various methods have been proposed to assess and analyze the environmental impacts. The Rapid Impact Assessment Method (RIAM) has been used in the present study to assess and analyze the environmental impacts of Karun Dam IV touristic area. The outcome of the study indicates that the developments in tourism can have considerable negative effects on the physical and biological parameters in construction and utilization phases. For the optimum utilization of the resources and facilities of the area throughout the year, and the amelioration of social welfare of the inhabitants and their ability to enjoy the auspices of tourism development, the touristic- developmental activities besides the Karun Dam IV should take place by the observation of environmental management programs. This will lead to considerable positive effects in the Southwestern Zagros area

Chemo-mechanical model for skeletal muscle contraction

Generation of force in skeletal muscle tissue depends on both chemical and mechanical phenomena. In this work, considering the kinetics of cross bridges, a one dimensional model has been proposed for predicting the isometric force according to the intracellular calcium ion distribution

Force, orientation and position control in redundant manipulators in prioritized scheme with null space compliance

    Get PDF
This paper addresses the problem of executing multiple prioritized tasks for robot manipulators with compliant behavior in the remaining null space. A novel controller–observer is proposed to ensure accurate accomplishment of various tasks based on a predefined hierarchy using a new priority assignment approach. Force control, position control and orientation control are considered. Moreover, a compliant behavior is imposed in the null space to handle physical interaction without using joint torque measurements. Asymptotic stability of the task space error and external torque estimation error during executing multiple tasks are shown. The performance of the proposed approach is evaluated on a 7R light weight robot arm by several case studies
